Additional Details

An unusual document explaining the purchase of two slaves, more than likely written out by a slave dealer for a client in Spain or one of her colonies. The slaver has written in Spanish, 'On the 7th of April of 1804 I bought a Negro in Macoa on the coast of Mozambique. His name was Sapari, I re-named him Jose Maria. The price 475 pesetas. Not baptized.' He lists a second slave, a woman, bought in the interior of Mozambique for 460 pesetas in 1806.
