Second edition of this account of the first French circumnavigation. Of substantial South American interest--Bougainville attempted to colonize the Malvinas / Falklands, was in Buenos Aires when the Jesuit expulsion order arrived, and also visited Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Patagonia, and the Straits of Magellan. His later journey took him to Tahiti, Samoa, Mauritius, and more. The supplement volume actually describes Banks's voyage with Captain Cook aboard the Endeavor. Hill 164; Sabin 6865, 6867.
