Toni Stone (1921-1996) was the first of three women to play baseball professionally alongside men in the Negro Leagues. She played for several teams between 1949 and 1954. She is seen here with the Indianapolis Clowns, for whom she played second base in 1953--taking over the position recently vacated by the great Hank Aaron.
