first edition. Ehrenberg was a young German immigrant who fought in the Texas Revolution as a member of the New Orleans Grays; he was one of the few survivors of the Goliad massacre. An important surveyor of the frontier Southwest, he later founded Ehrenberg, AZ, and was killed by Indians in 1866.
