ACHILLE DAL LAGO (1910-1981) CATTOLICA / ADRIATICO. 1937. 39 1/2x27 3/4 inches, 100 1/4x70 1/2 cm. Longo & Zoppelli, Treviso. Condition A-: repaired tears and staining at edges. Dal Lago, a little-known avant-garde painter, studied at the Academy of Decorative Arts in Monza and began to follow the teachings of the Futurists, describing in two letters to Depero (in 1937) how he felt the need to move past traditional painting. He designed a handful of travel posters in the 1930s, as well as interiors for several hotels. The first retrospective of his works was held at the Museo Civico Riva del Garda in 2005.
