ALBERT FÜSS (1889-1969)

FRANKFURTER INTERNATIONALE MESSE. 1920.

29¾x20 inches, 75½x51 cm. Wüsten & Co., Frankfurt.
Condition A-: minor repaired tears and repaired pin holes in margins; minor restoration in image.

Füss, who is primarily known for the extensive body of work he created for the Hamburg-America Shipping Line in the 1930s and 40s, shows his youthful, avant-garde abilities here with an extraordinary neo-expressionist composition. This creative image, with its strong colors and distorted perspective, displays a ship, people walking into the fairgrounds, flags and a factory, all dynamically arranged in superimposed planes.

Kunst, Kommerz, Visionen p. 148. Verführungen 30.
