ALBERT FUSS (1889-1969) FRANKFURTER INTERNATIONALE MESSE. 1920.
29 1/2x20 inches, 75x51 cm. Wussen & Co., Frankfurt.
Condition B+: repaired tears and creases at edges; restoration in image; vertical fold.
Fuss, who is primarily known for the extensive body of work he created for the Hamburg-America Shipping Line in the 1930s and 40s, shows his youthful, avant-garde abilities here with an extraordinary neo-expressionistic composition. This creative image, with its strong colors and distorted perspective, displays a ship, people walking into the fairgrounds, flags and a factory, all dynamically arranged in superimposed planes. Kunst, Kommerz, Visionen p. 148. Verführungen 30.
