F. K. D. (DATES UNKNOWN) 4. FRANKFURTER INTERNATIONALE MESSE. 1921.
29 3/4x19 1/2 inches, 76x49 1/2 cm. Heller & Co., Frankfurt.
Condition B+: repaired tears and restoration in margins.
One of the oldest trade fairs in Europe, the Frankfurter Messe has been held since at least the 12th century; and, in July of 1240, an imperial edict was passed by Emperor Frederick II, naming Frankfurt the world's first trade fair city. The allure of the fair is strongly indicated here as arriving travelers spill onto the train platform and rush to get to the fairgrounds, represented by the logo floating in the air at the end of the platform. A vivid illustration, effectively using perspective to add tremendous movement.
