ALFRED MULLER (1869-1940) [TRAIN CROSSING.] 22 3/4x57 inches. Condition B+: replaced top and right margins; repaired tears and creases in margins and image; vertical folds. Little is known of Müller outside of a handful of decorative panels and a few etchings he designed. This is the rarest of the panels he created, and depicts a charming image from the early years of automobiles. The concept of the intrusion of modern locomotion into the countryside is similar to Theophile-Alexandre Steinlen's poster Cycles Comiot, in which geese scatter before an early motorized bicycle.
