As if rising up out of the Atlantic Ocean, a blonde Britania in a flowing white gown and red cape is dramatically holding out a gilded sword. Behind her is the sinking Lusitania and the piteously outstretched arms of those who drowned after the ship was torpedoed by a German submarine. One of at least two variations, the other in a larger format shows a little more background, has different lettering and is signed by the artist.
