BERNARD VILLEMOT (1911-1989) [PARLY 2.] 1977.
60 3/4x46 1/4 inches, 154 1/4x117 1/2 cm.
Condition A: slight offsetting at sides.
Situated just outside of Paris and close to Versailles, Parly 2 was a planned community opened in 1969, which had one of the largest covered malls in Europe at the time. The name is a combination of "Paris" and "Marley-le-Roi," the town where King Louis XIV had his summer residence. Villemot designed a series of advertisements for the community, each a different color variation of the image of a lithe, elegant woman in the center of swirling circles. In one larger version (3x4 meters), the swirls can actually be recognized as the top loop of the number "2." Bazin 277 (var), Villemot / Bon Salle 467 and back cover (var).
