Bell propounds a litany of ailments that can be cured through the miraculous effects of animal electricity and magnetism, including deafness, tooth ache, cataracts, epilepsy, palsy, St. Vitus's dance, Rheumatism, dropsy, asthma, apoplexy, night mares, consumption, flatulence, sleep walking, and more. Bell also describes how to make an electric apparatus and how to magnetize a tree, a shilling, a harpsichord, a room, a pond, and a glass of wine, among other objects.
