Single wove bifolium inscribed over two pages to Anne Charlotte Lynch Botta (1815-1891), planning an imminent visit to Washington DC; old folds, mounted to a piece of green paper; 8 1/4 x 5 1/4 in. folded.
Anne Lynch was known for her Saturday evening New York City soirées in the mid-19th century. It was at such a salon hosted by Lynch where Bremer was introduced after arriving from Sweden in 1850. She arrived in Washington, true to her word, on 1 July 1850. There she met up with Lynch, and they met President Zachary Taylor and Vice President Millard Fillmore outside Taylor's home at a Saturday afternoon public reception complete with "military music" according to Bremer's diary.
