The Schichtl family came from a long lineage of fairground puppeteers and purveyors of oddities from southern Germany. Several generations down the line, brothers Hans, Karl and Julius – successfully infiltrated the international stage with their variety shows. From 1907 to 1922, they presented their "Fantoches" puppet performances across Europe and the United States.
