Rigalt was born in Guatemala and studied art, ceramics and scenography in Spain, including time at the School of Decorative Arts in Barcelona. He was a painter, an animation pioneer and a professor. He became an influential artist in his home country and was chosen to help design interior work in Guatemala's National Palace in Guatemala City when it was constructed between 1936 and 1943. He also designed a number of posters promoting travel to Guatemala in the 1950s - some, like this one, for the Guatemala Tourist Bureau and others for the Asociación de Amigos de la Antigua Guatemala.
