CHARLES LOUPOT (1892-1962)

EXPOSITION INTERNATIONALE ARTS DÉCORATIFS ET INDUSTRIELS MODERNES. 1925.

23¾x15¾ inches, 60¼x40 cm. Les Editions de L'Image de France, Paris.
Condition A-: slight time-staining and minor abrasions at edges; minor abrasions along vertical and horizontal folds.

Another of the four official designs chosen by a jury to promote the Exposition Internationale Des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. Printed with only three colors, the image of smoke from factory chimneys morphing into the petals of a rose (one of the most popular decorative elements of the period) symbolizes the connection between art and industry within the Art Deco movement. As in many of his posters, Loupot uses vibrating tones to frame his image.

This is the smaller format. Loupot / Musee de l'Affiche no. 23, Loupot no. 58, p. 65, Plakatkunst p. 102, Euro Deco p. 29, Reclame 111.
