Indelible pencil on paper, 1919. 175x255 mm; 6 7/8x10 inches. Initialed with the artist's monogram and dated in purple ink, lower right recto, and titled and dated in pencil, verso. Ex-collection private collection; thence by descent.

Accompanying this lot is a research report completed by The Burchfield Penney Art Center, Buffalo, New York.

This drawing is listed in the Charles E. Burchfield Foundation Archives, Inventory # 249.9, in the folder titled "1949-1953 MY LIST OF DRAWINGS & SIZES," on the "List of Drawings in Cleveland - also - drawings sold at Athens, O." This refers to the exhibition, "The Drawings of Charles E. Burchfield," Cleveland Museum of Art, November 4-December 31, 1953.

Nancy Weekly, Burchfield Scholar and Head of Collections and the Charles Cary Rumsey Curator at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, writes in the accompanying report, "Beginning in 1915, Burchfield drew and painted the Ohio landscape in his hometown of Salem, where he went to the art school in Cleveland, and in small towns around the northeast section of the state."
