CHARLES LOUPOT (1892-1962) [FASHION.] Two prints. 1923.
Each approximately 147/8x107/8 inches. Heim and Devambez, Paris.
Condition varies, generally A. Paper. Hand-colored plates.
These delicate prints are among the very few he did. The first image was originally intended to be used as a magazine advertisement, and it eventually appeared in a slightly altered state (without the man, and with a bottle), as an ad for the aperitif Paris Sport. As it appears here, the print is daring in layout, elegantly drawn and very well printed. It was most likely printed in a very small run. The second image has an extremely daring, plunging distorted perspective. The trees and the couple in the background echo Loupot's green Voisin poster, which was published by Devambez the same year. This print is as rare and sophisticated as the other one. Loupot no. 16 and 17, Zagrodski p. 64, no. 56.
