CHARLES LOUPOT (1892-1962) EXPOSITION ARTS DECORATIFS ET INDUSTRIELS MODERNES. 1925.
233/4x16 inches. Editions de l'Image de France, Paris.
Condition B+: light discoloration in top margin; printer's crease through lower left corner.
This poster was one of four separate designs by different artists chosen by a jury to promote the Exposition Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes (the show from which the term Art Deco was taken). Printed in only three colors, the image of smoke from factory chimneys morphing into the petals of a rose (one of the most popular decorative elements of the period), symbolizes the connection between art and industry within the Art Deco movement. As in many of his posters, Loupot uses vibrating tones to frame his image. This is the smaller of two formats. Musee de l'Affiche no. 23, Zagrodski (Loupot) no. 58, p. 65.
