Additional Details

Clinton Tutt was a San Francisco antique dealer, activist, and active participant in the local pageant scene as Naomi Murdoch or Nurse Naomi. The earliest item in the lot is an 11 x 13 1/2-inch photograph of 8 drag performers (illustrated), with all 8 identified on the frame verso. Almost all of them were regular featured performers at the club Finocchio's per a San Francisco Examiner listing dated 18 September 1960. 4 of the performers signed the photograph for Naomi in 1970. 7 albums are filled with photographs, fliers, and clippings, including a slipcased album dedicated to the 1972 Empress de San Francisco Coronation Ball (81 photographs); and another dedicated to a 1972 drag staging of Moss Hart's "Light up the Sky" (29 photos). A 16 x 12 photograph of 3 unnamed performers is credited to David Hurn of Magnum Photos; and 3 trophies and a plaque were issued to Naomi, 1973-79. Many of the featured events were benefits for the Society for Individual Rights, including programs for SIR's 1965, 1966, 1967, and 1969 "Sirlebrity" galas.
