The Società Anonima Aero Espresso Italiana began operation in 1926 operating seaplanes between Brindisi, Athens and Istanbul, adding Rhodes and other Aegean islands to their route in the early 1930s. Pictured is one of their Dornier Do J Wal ("whale"), a German manufactured aircraft. In 1935, the airline was absorbed along with several other smaller Italian aviation companies by Ala Littoria. Nivola was an architect known for his work in the 1950s with Le Courbusier in New York. Wings of Italy p. 41.
