"As air meets grew more common, promoters searched for ways to set themselves apart. The meet at Le Havre distinguished itself by trumpeting its FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) designation as 'international.' The poster underscores this theme by depicting nearly a dozen national flags. The FAI, formed in 1905 to coordinate and standardize aviation, oversaw national aviation clubs and promoted the international spirit of aeronautics. In 1910, it issued its first regulations for pilot's licenses" (Looping the Loop p. 158). Affiches d'Aviation p. 63 (var), Looping the Loop pl. 4, Trouville / Deauville p. 61.
