A scarce and wonderful pictographic world map with a decorative, tile-like design, published by the Lockheed Corporation. It was issued to herald their new longer-range Super Constellation, the L-1049G, which took its first commercial flight on July 1, 1955. Qantas began flying the L-1049 at the end of 1956, which suggests that this variant may have been printed in 1957. The image exists in several variations; this rare Qantas version shows the airline's routes spanning the continents. We could find no other airline that adapted the map for their own advertising.
