The S1 operated between 1939 and 1945. Her enormous size restricted her to primarily working the Ohio to Chicago route. By mid-1940, the name "Fleet of Modernism" was replaced by "All-Weather Fleet," a term which appeared in most of the railroad's advertising. This image also appeared in magazine advertisements for the railroad.
