Thorne's beloved dog illustrations for her published books are becoming increasingly difficult to find. These are her drawings before an ochre watercolor wash was applied to all the images in the final printed version. This lot includes: "They all seemed to be glad to see him" "Mr. Clarks' stepladder had slipped out from under him and gone crashing through the window" "And then they chase me, their own master, up on a roof in my night shirt."
