Additional Details

"It is naturally repugnant for a man to stand up on a public platform and to talk about himself and his own work, for never until a man attempts to do so . . . does he realize how very insignificant things both himself and his own works are . . . ."
A version of this lecture was published in the appendix to Christopher Redmond's Welcome to America, Mr. Sherlock Holmes, 1987.
