From Dell'Arcano del Mare in which Dudley includes two maps of Japan, though based on different models (see lot 36). This is the more modern of the two maps and is based on new findings by the Dutch merchants plying the Japanese waters. It became a cornerstone model for later maps by Janssonius, Sanson, Van der Aa, and Chatelain. The map was reissued posthumously and without alterations in 1661.
