EBERHARD VON KLEYDORFF (1900 - ?) IN JEDES HAUS / DER STADT-ANZEIGER. 1927.
381/4x261/2 inches. M. Dumont Schauberg, Köln.
Condition A.
Kleydorf studied architecture in Munich and painting in Dusseldorf and Weimar. He settled in Munich where he became a graphic designer. Mostly remembered for his caricatures from the 1920s and 30s, he was ultimately deemed "entartet" by the Nazi regime. Here, he is promoting the local "Stadt Anzeiger," which was a free magazine filled with ads and classifieds that was distributed to "every home." His architectural training clearly on display, he presents an almost toy-like view of different houses, to indicate just how many, and how many different households the periodical would reach.
