The repeating motif of well-attired women was frequently employed in advertising during this era, perhaps for the first time by Ludwig Hohlwein for Parfumerie Tochtermann in 1910. Ernst Deutsch utilized this motif for Salamander in 1912, as did Muller in this image for Hansom, and anonymous artists for other various products as well (see lot 330).
