Keller was one of the fathers of the international typographic style. He taught design and typography at Zürich's Decorative Arts School, influencing generations of students from 1918 until his retirement in 1956. In addition to teaching, he also designed a number of posters for the Zürich Decorative Arts Museum. All of his posters adhered to his two graphic principles of simplicity and legibility. His style evolved over the years from a strict approach in the 1920s, to more relaxed and imaginative typography after the war, which ran contrary to the prevailing, rigid international style. MoMA 328.1957.
