Baumberger was one of the most versatile Swiss graphic designers. His posters switched nimbly between minimal typographic creations, abstract and realistic landscapes, near-photographic representation of objects via the Neue Sachlichkeit, and concise Art Deco designs. Baumberger studied in Zürich and Munich before being hired as a lithographer by the great Swiss printing firm, Wolfsberg, of which he became a partner in 1914. While he is mainly remembered for his collaboration with PKZ and his Sachplakate (Object Posters), Baumberger was extremely prolific; in all, he designed over 230 posters. His versatility enabled him to transform his stylistic approach, be it a fluid, free style, or, as in the case of this poster, geometrically Art Deco, to advertise a product, event or location. This is the German version. Baumberger 201 (var).
