EUGENE OSSWALD (1879-1960)

GERMANY / A LEADING COUNTRY FOR WINTER SPORT. 1925.

29x19 3/4 inches, 73 1/2x50 cm. Otto Elsner, Berlin.
Condition B+: repaired tears at edges, some into bottom margin and text; minor abrasions, creases and overpainting in margins; rippling in image.

Though his original career goal was to be a stone sculptor, Osswald was best known for his illustrations as well as impressionist paintings of animals, with horses among his favorite subjects. Here, he is promoting equestrian skijoring, a sport where a horse pulls a skier around a track. This is the English version.
