Vavasseur was a prolific illustrator and poster designer who is most remembered for his iconic poster for Ripolin paint, featuring three men painting. But he was also clearly skilled in the classic Art Nouveau style, which is evident in this charming and sensitive promotion for a French publisher. The left side of the poster was left blank to fill in the particulars of editor Henry May's latest publication.
