Exquisite album containing 50 stunning views of Japan, including tea and rice fields, street scenes, studies of gardens and temples, wrestlers, geishas and other occupationals, as well as the additional A. Farsari & Co. frontispiece montage. Delicately hand-colored mounted albumen prints, each approximately 7 1/2x9 1/2 inches (19.1x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, all with the original tissue guards; with a caption, in English, and an inventory number on many. Oblong folio, black lacquer with inlaid ivory depicting three figures and gilt insects, one figure's face is lacking; gilt-lettered leather backstrip; all edges gilt; in the original silk-covered clamshell box, lightly rubbed with some hinges split. 1895-1900
