Crossing the Aare river and connecting to the Enge peninsula where the historic part of the city is based, are the Nydeggbrücke and the Untertorbrücke bridges. Rising above the red roofs of the old city are the Bern Minster Cathedral and the Zeitglockenturm. The Bernese Alps serve as the background.
