Isaac Scott Hathaway (1872-1967) was an African American artist who worked in various media, including ceramics. He taught at the University of Arkansas before moving to Tuskegee. He was the first African American to design a U.S. coin, the fifty cent piece bearing the face of Booker T. Washington.
