Folio, 298x206 mm, 20th-century vellum boards with spine title in ink; mostly marginal soiling particularly on title and last leaf, scattered minor stains, small wormholes at beginning and end partly repaired affecting some words on leaves in last gathering, blank corners of title and last leaf restored. Inscription on title noting current Pope and rulers dated 21 April "MVXXIX" (but probably 1529); ownership inscription of Symon Putheus Viglebiensis (Simone del Pozzo of Vigevano) dated 9 February 1529 on 2R3r and marginalia mainly in Vegetius. Second edition of a collection of writings by Roman and Greek military authors first printed in 1494, comprising Sextus Julius Frontinus, Strategemata; Flavius Vegetius Renatus, De re militari; Aelianus Tacticus, De instruendis aciebus in the Latin translation by Theodorus Gaza; and Pseudo-Modestus, De vocabulis rei militaris.
