JACQUES NATHAN GARAMOND (1910-2001) EXPOSITION DE L'HABITATION. 1935.
47x31 1/2 inches, 119 1/2x80 cm. Édition de l'Architecture D'Aujord'Hui, Bologne.
Condition A: minor abrasions at edges.
Nathan Garamond was a member of the U.A.M. (Union des Artistes Modernes), alongside such graphic art luminaries as Cassandre, Carlu, Loupot and Colin. He was encouraged by Carlu, ten years his senior, to create the posters for L'Habitation, an exhibition of building designs, that was included as a section of the Salon des Arts Ménagers. Nathan designed three posters for the exhibition from 1934 to 1936. His designs for this show are "impeccably architectural" (Affiches Art Deo p. 187) and for this one he also incorporates photomontage into the image. UAM p. 69.
