Hand-inked animation model cel of Garfield's ever-good-natured canine housemate Odie, circa 1982.

The character's appearance closely resembles his design in the first Garfield animated special, Here Comes Garfield (which was produced by Bill Melendez Productions, and first aired October 25th, 1982). The cel was originally owned by talented ink and paint artist Joan Pabian, who worked at Melendez for over a decade, and was credited for ink and paint work on Here Comes Garfield. Remarkably, the model cel features elegantly rendered brush inked lines, at a time when xeroxed lines were the norm for television animation.
