Karlštejn Castle, situated only 20 miles away from Prague, is a gothic castle built by King Charles IV (the Holy Roman Emperor in the 14th century), specifically as a place to safely house the royal jewels and holy relics. It has been a popular tourist attraction since it was restored at the end of the 19th century.
