L. BASORINI KURSAAL DE LUGANO. 1909.
38 1/4x27 inches. Montorfano & Valcarenghi, Milan.
Condition B+: light vertical and horizontal folds; repaired tears and restoration in margins.
Located in the Swiss Canton of Tessin, Lugano is situated very near the Italian border (hence the text which appears to be a combination of Italian and Schweizer Deutsch). Here a couple walking in the hills over the lake are viewing the town's casino. The subtle glow in their cheeks is either the dying embers of a setting sun or the reflection of the gleaming structure located below them. Although done in recognizable Italian Art Nouveau style, Basorini is not mentioned in Bolaffi, Manifesto Italiano nor Italian Posters. Masters p. 129.
