LEM (DATES UNKNOWN) A LA PLACE CLICHY / TOILETTES D'ÉTÉ. Circa 1901.
48x34 inches, 122x86 1/2 cm. Chaix, Paris.
Condition B+: veritcal and horizontal folds. Paper. Framed.
Lem's small output of posters is all that survives of his career, nothing is known about the person whose signature and style both bear a resemblance to Pal's. As an employee of the Chaix printing house, Lem would have been a disciple (albeit one of the lesser known) of Jules Chéret. À La Place Clichy, one of the leading Parisian department stores, was extremely active and successful in the use of posters for advertising.
