Born in Washington, D.C., this modernist painter is known for this figurative art from the 1960s. McNeill received a BA at Morehouse College and an MFA from Howard University, where he studied with Loïs Mailou Jones, and was on the visiting faculty at Skowhegan. His painting Yolk was included in the landmark The Negro in American Art exhibition at U.C.L.A in 1966, and his work is in the collections of the Atlanta Art Museum, Spelman College and Dartmouth College.
