LOUIS OPPENHEIM (1879 - ?) MICHELS!

Condition B+ / B: restored losses and restoration along vertical and horizontal folds; repaired tears and creases in margins and image.
Berlin was the leading European city in advertising art in the first years of the 20th century. Great artists like Lucian Bernhardt, Julius Gipkens, Hans Rudi Erdt and Julius Klinger set an artistic standard that was followed by the myriad of other artists living there. Oppenheim, a prolific poster artist, creates this energetic call for a large sale using only two colors. Such sparing use of color and the minimal design can likely be explained that it was designed in a hurry and inexpensively, as with most inventory-clearance advertisements.
