A landscape painter born in Norfolk, Virginia, Kollock (1840-1911) studied under Robert Wylie at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Arts, Philadelphia, and also at the Academy of Design and the Art Students League, New York, afterwards going to Paris, where she spent several years in the Académie Julien.
