A certain lynching averted by a warrant to Sheriff A. A. Duhamel, who was ordered to "Take Joel Fallowfield. . .if he be found in your bailiwick and . . . safely keep so that you have his body before the Circuit Court . . . to be held . . . the first Monday of November next . . . to answer for Combining, Conspiring and agreeing to enter the jail of Queen Ann's County and take there from Negro David Seney, slave of Chas. McCollister and John D. Elliott, a prisoner there confined, with the intentions to hang or otherwise kill and murder said Negro."
