MAX SCHWARZER WIENER KAFFEEHAUS. 1915. 351/2x231/2 inches. Fr. Maison, Munich. Condition A-: restoration and overpainting in top margin. The second in Schwarzer's decadent café troika (the third, promoting the restaurant within the same establishment, depicts an elegant violinist serenading over a table laden with a champagne bucket and lobster). Here two waiters are presenting trays of cakes, coffees and diversions for guests to enjoy. Like in the previous lot, the patterns are lush and bold, the design concept is strong and the hint of Art Deco pervades the overall style. The stylized "6" that appears above Schwarzer's signature is a reference to "die 6" (see previous lot).
