12mo, second edition, second issue of Meres's Palladis Tamia with engraved title as transcribed above, and a typographical title page that reads: Wits Common Wealth. The Second Part, London: Printed by Stansby to be sold by Richard Royston, 1634; lacking final blank Kk4; a handful of blank marginal restorations and a few closed tears repaired; bound in full citron morocco by J. Leighton of Brewer Street, ex libris William Stirling with bookplate inside front board and his emblem tooled in blind to both boards, and the bookplate of Stirling's Keir Collection of proverbs, emblems, apothegms, epitaphs and ana pasted inside back board, this particular work from the ana section; neatly rebacked; purchased from Seven Gables in 1969; 5 1/4 x 3 in.
