N. ZHUKOV (DATES UNKNOWN) LENINGRAD. Circa 1935. 39 1/2x27 1/4 inches, 100x69 cm. Condition A-: repaired tears and restoration along right edge. The dome and silhouette of St. Issac's Cathedral in present day Saint Petersburg, seen from across the Neva River. Under the Communist Government the Cathedral was turned into a museum (of Atheism). As recognizable as the impressive structure is, even through the fog as depicted here, the spire atop the structure was likely the artist's fancy, as no architectural record of such a large spire can be found.
