The grandeur and scope of the American and Canadian Rocky Mountains are captured in the picture of towering trees and the dominating mountain, with a hiker and a lodge to lend a sense of perspective. Franklin Roosevelt, in an attempt to encourage citizens to travel to the National Parks, declared 1934 to be National Parks Year. Speaking from Glacier National Park on August 5th, 1934, Roosevelt declared "I am glad to say that there has been a magnificent response and that the numbers visiting our national parks has shown a splendid increase." Posters were heavily involved in this campaign, as were National Parks Year postage stamps, which were released the same year. rare. We have found no other example at auction in over 10 years.
